Based on the art of A.Knox of the isle of Man, who in the early twenth century was the chief designer for Liberties of London. Knox drew on the Viking and Irish cultural legacy of his native Isle of Man. Avilable in Green, Blue and Red Colorit enamels. These Triple Spirals are based on art work from bronze horse mounts of the 2-3rd century BCE, Brition.Triple spirals have long been held to have represented the Great Goddess of the Celts of Western Europe. 1.3cm in diameter, cut through and filled with green "Colorit",enamel that have a beautiful translucent finish. Avilable only in 9ct gold , with a choice of Blue or Green.

From The Book of kells,8AD Ireland/Iona.Folio 7V,The Virgin and Child page has the Madonna surrounded by 4 Angels, and on Her right shoulder is a brooch in the pattern I have used to create this peice of jewellery. Also notable is the chair on which the Holy Family are sitting on,this is an important record of Early Medieval Irish furniture.

Viking Knot work / Broa Style.

10AD saw the Viking expansion reach its peak.In the Isle of Man they carved beautiful cross's such as the Maughold Cross, were this design was sourced.My thanks to Derek Bryce and his book the "Symbolism of the Celtic Cross". The Broa Style or Borrre Ring-Chain also known as Manx Ring-Chain dates as a style to the early nineth-century.

Brigantine
Options
Horse harness mounts 2AD, South Shields, Britain. Very similar in style to the Clwyed chariot mount from 1AD Wales.This peice was made by the Brigantines of Northern Britain.The late Iron Age People of Ireland and Britain had a belief in the Triple Deity, could this be an old symbol of a Celtic Goddess? I find it interesting that it has been associated with horses for its hundred years or so of use. Epona was the Celtic Horse Goddess.

Knotwork reworked by Desmond and inspired by a capital letter from The Book of Kells.800AD, Ireland/Iona.:F55v; Matthew 33-X, Jesus's Healing Miracles. As the Book of Kells was first created on the Isle of Iona, it is only fitting that I should acknowlage this fact and name a design in its honour. Over the years that I have been creating this collection, this design has been one of our most loved, by many of our customers,here in Australian and Overseas.
