Celtic Jewellery - Hair Slide

Hair Slide

Options

11cm in total length and 5.5cm at its widest point. This is one of the most beautiful pieces Desmond has yet made. It is easy to wear; the pin is in two pieces for and for added safety a chain is attached by sterling silver wire, and dressed with sterling silver chenier. The pin is it self, sterling silver chenier which is hollow to allow the safety pin to be inserted. The knot work on the terminals, as a knot is a so call Lovers knot, and at the very tip of the pin is a tiny triple spiral. The Knot work it self has been given to Desmond by an student of the Celtic Artist George Bain, Bill Scot, and back in 1948, brought the techniques of Mr Bain to Australia. Thank you Bill (now in his 80's). How to wear the hair slide. This is an ornament, not a hair holder. Make your hair in to a ponytail using an elastic hair band. Then place the slide on top of the gathered hair, and push through the large pin. Once it is pushed through the ends of the slide, insert the pin with the safety chain.
